Hi All. Sorry that I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been finishing a project and traveling, so it’s been challenging to get myself to sit down at the computer.
I was in Marblehead, Massachusetts for the 4th of July and would not have wanted to have been anywhere else on earth. There’s something so perfect about 4th of July in New England; sailing with good friends, eating ice cream, eating seafood, watching a parade and shopping the wonderful shops filled with “New Englandy” things…and I say this with all of the home sick and warm fuzzy feelings in my heart…this is my neck of the woods…having grown up in Western Massachusetts and lived in Boston for years before making the move to Los Angeles 11 years ago. I was working with a client last week and something dawned on me. He was asking me about certain decorative details and finishes and I kept referring back to the paint.
It dawned on me just how much I rely on paint to make a room come alive or to set a mood. Certain painting techniques also add drama and accent certain architectural features (or create the illusion of an architectural feature where none exist). Paint also works wonders to hide imperfection, unevenness and unbalance in a room. Continue Reading…

I think that it’s that time again…new car time. Nothing is really wrong with the old one is just like…you know…when your running or workout shoes are fine but just seem a little soft, broken in…old?
I tend to drive my cars into the ground, since I firmly believe that a car is the worst investment that you can make, only losing value year by year…to me, buying a really expensive car is like leaving a fine oil painting on the sidewalk and then getting upset when a bird relieves himself on it or someone bumps up against it. Hollywood called last night, and What Would You Do With This Room came knocking. Mutineer Magazine’s national launch party at Falcon in Hollywood was a rousing success, attracting hundreds of people and raising money for AIDS/LifeCycle.
With doors opening at 7 p.m., guests were treated to the works—Hollywood style—with a red carpet and popping flashbulbs intro, to a sophisticated wine and beverage tasting, to a nicely presented silent auction table.
What Would You Do With This Room’s association with Mutineer Magazine came about after the Mutineers featured Mark Lewison in an article on interior design meets beverage lifestyle (written by yours truly) in their fourth issue. Mutineer is a magazine for all things beverage. Continue Reading…

One of the courses that I teach is Lighting Design. Lighting also happens to be one of my areas of concentration in Interior Design.
I love lighting. I have a secret, or not so secret, obsession with lamps and light fixtures…so it really is…all about lighting. I have a whole closet of lamps to prove it.
Anyway…to the point. Continue Reading…

I feel like Kathy Griffin turning a molehill’s worth of publicity into a mountain, but yesterday I learned from TheAppleBlog.com that our Mark On Call™ virtual interior designer app got to be an “extra” (if an app were a person) in a new iPhone commercial called, “Office” (ad below). Our friend, Gregg, extended our app’s appearance in this version of the commercial.
The Mark On Call™ icon appears on the user’s app menu screen after the Print N Share application is demonstrated. Continue Reading…
